The man killed Friday in a one-vehicle crash on Galveston’s East End has been identified, but officials said they are having a hard time reaching his next of kin.

Thomas Alexander, 48, of New Jersey, died shortly after the silver Ford F-150 truck he was driving rolled and ejected him while taking a sharp curve, officials said.

Police and emergency personnel received a call about a vehicle rollover about 3:10 p.m. on Apffel Park Road, west of Beachtown Drive, Galveston Police Department spokesman Capt. Joshua Schirard said.

Responders found Alexander bleeding on the ground and tried to treat him, Schirard said.

Alexander was eventually declared dead at the scene, Schirard said.

Investigators found no other passengers in the truck and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, Schirard said.

Officials with the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as Alexander, but said they were having trouble finding more information about him.

Police are still investigating the crash and suspect alcohol may have been a factor, Schirard said.
