A man accused of killing a League City man and wounding his wife in a shooting at their home June 28 remains in Galveston County jail, while the victim’s family seeks answers.
Sayantan Ghose, 41, was charged in connection with the killing of Clarence Wayne Harris II, 43, and in the wounding of Amanda Harris, 36, who is Ghose’s former wife.
Ghose’s bond has been set at $1.15 million. He is charged with murder and aggravated attempted murder.
Wayne Harris’ family in his hometown of Tyler wants answers about what happened during the June 28 shooting in the 700 block of Mayhill Ridge Lane in League City.
“We’re at a loss,” his sister, Laurie Torres, said. “He’s truly missed. We just want justice.”
Meanwhile in League City, Amanda Harris has recovered from two gunshot wounds she suffered during the shooting. She continues to raise money to help pay family expenses through a GoFundMe website page and through fundraising benefits, she said.
Friends and neighbors held a benefit for the Harris family Friday night and have scheduled a barbecue benefit in the Westover Park neighborhood for Sunday, Amanda Harris said.
After the shooting, Ghose was seen fleeing the Harris home in the 700 block of Mayhill Ridge Lane just after the June 28 shooting, according to an affidavit. He was detained June 29 at a border checkpoint near Las Cruces, N.M., U.S. Border Patrol agents said.
Ghose waived extradition and returned to Galveston County on July 16.
Amanda Harris has accused Ghose of stalking and harassing her since their divorce in 2008.
She told police Ghose had arrived uninvited at her Westover Park home and that she had attempted to make a citizen’s arrest when gunfire broke out, according to an arrest affidavit.
“He’s a crazy stalker,” Harris told The Daily News in July. “I’m quite confident if he gets out, he will kill me.”
