A Texas City man Monday was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, Galveston County Assistant District Attorney Christopher Henderson said.

Ron Christopher Marshall, 27, pleaded guilty on the charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child and must serve 30 days in county jail as one of the conditions of his probation, Henderson said.

Marshall was arrested in July of 2015 on a warrant.

The warrant was issued after a then 8-year-old child made a complaint to police, Joe Stanton of the Texas City Police Department said.

Marshall pleaded guilty Monday, just before the case was set to go to trial, court records show.

The case was in the 212th District Court, Judge Patricia Grady presiding.
