A U.S. Coast Guard crew transported a man early Sunday morning from a dive charter vessel 50 miles southeast of Galveston to an area hospital.

At 8:20 a.m. Sunday, a crewmember of the dive charter vessel Fling contacted the Coast Guard to report that a 54-year-old man aboard the vessel was suffering from possible decompression sickness, the Coast Guard said.

A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew arrived on scene at 9:55 a.m. and hoisted the man from the vessel, the Coast Guard said.

At 10:51 a.m., the crew delivered the man to Mainland Medical Center, 6801 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, the Coast Guard said.

He was reported to be in stable condition.
