The county is accepting applications for those seeking an interim appointment as the Precinct 7 justice of the peace. The office is vacant after Judge Mark Foster resigned to run for county commissioner.

The county commissioners will appoint the interim judge. The appointed judge will hold office until a new judge is elected in November.

Anyone interested in serving as justice of the peace for the area of the county that includes the eastern portions of League City plus Bacliff San Leon and Kemah should submit a request in writing including basic biographical information and a statement attesting that the applicant is registered to vote in Galveston County.

Requests should be mailed or dropped off to the attention of Galveston County Commissioner Ken Clark at the county’s Calder Annex Building 174 Calder Drive Room 112 in League City. You can also submit the information by email to Ken.Clark@co.galveston.tx.us. The deadline for applications is June 4 the commissioner said.

For information call Clark’s office at 281-316-8745.
