Police arrested two Clear Brook High School students Thursday for making threats to the school via social media.

The students had supposedly posted images of a BB gun on Snapchat, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said.

The county provides law enforcement for Clear Creek Independent School District. Clear Brook High School, 4607 FM 2351, Friendswood, is in that district.

“Our team became aware of the social media activity first thing this morning and by 8:45 a.m.,” Principal Michele Staley said.

Extra officers were at the school as a precautionary measure, she said.

Two boys, one in ninth and one in 10th grade, made the threats, and three students reported it to school officials Thursday morning, district spokeswoman Elaina Polsen said.

Charges are pending with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Polsen said.

“We had extra police officers at the campus all day, including an ammunitions detection team to ensure there were no weapons on campus,” Polsen said.
