A child stabbed his father with a pocket knife Monday when he attempted to stop a fight between his parents, Santa Fe Police said.

Police responded to a domestic violence call in the 13100 block of Sixth Street.

A 42-year-old Santa Fe man had a physical disturbance with his 47-year-old wife, who is also a Santa Fe resident, police said. A 12-year-old child of the two adults tried to stop the fight and stabbed the man with a pocket knife, police said.

Police called the criminal investigations division and Child Protective Services to assist with the investigation.

Emergency responders took the man to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

No charges had been filed, but the case was under investigation, police said.

Police withheld the names of those involved, officials said.
