A hearing on who will receive the body of a 6-year-old Texas City boy has been reset.

Texas City police responded to a call of an unresponsive child and found Mar’Nijah Brown, at a home Dec. 5, detective Paul Edinburgh said.

Paramedics attempted to perform CPR on the boy before taking him to Mainland Medical Center, where he was declared dead, Edinburgh said.

Galveston County District Attorney Jack Roady has declined to name a person of interest in the child’s death but acknowledged that an investigation is ongoing.

A Galveston County Probate Court judge in January postponed a hearing on who would receive the body, pending the ongoing investigation in the case.

The delayed hearing, set for Thursday, was reset because of a personal emergency by Judge Kimberly Sullivan.

No date has been decided for the new hearing as of Thursday afternoon.
