Three days after the polls closed results from some of the smaller entity elections are just being released.
When the counting stopped early Sunday morning after hours of delays thanks to a broken piece of equipment the final results for the Hitchcock City Commission Dickinson school board and Bacliff Municipal Utility District were not available.
And some entities’ results did not include mail-in ballot figures.
In Hitchcock Randy Strickland will be the next city commissioner. He defeated John Derringer 62 votes to 11 votes in the Precinct 3 race.
The city had an issue with the card reader on its election equipment which meant the totals could not be tabulated until Monday.
Strickland will be sworn into office May 21.
Dickinson school trustee Jeff Pittman cruised to an easy victory over Frank Farmilette III winning 43 votes compared to Farmilette’s four votes.
In Bacliff Brad Bingham and Victor Medina were easily re-elected to the utility district’s board. They were the top vote getters in a four-person field.
Bingham had 56 votes and Medina 50 while Donald Rodgers had 14 and Sidney Brummerhop had four votes.
