"The Texas Department of Transportation in February will close some lanes of Interstate 45 between FM 518 and FM 517 so crews can work on improvements".

"The lane closures begin Thursday and will continue through Feb. 28".

What improvements are so desperately needed during Galveston's Mardi Gras that the "state" cannot delay this project until after Mardi Gras is over in 2 weeks???

I suppose the "state" has never driven on a "normal day" between 5pm-8pm from Galveston to Dickinson to see what a boondoggle the current repairs at the causeway is causing travelers and are even more clueless about the usual traffic congestion already in the Dickinson area??

The "state" has obviously lost their minds....[sad]

When the state makes schedules they really don't "think" about what is going on in the area as all they really care about is doing the work.... Should they think about it? Yes, but they don't and they won't....This will probably hurt the attendance of the next 2 weekends to Galveston....One day they might finish the work on 45, but I doubt that we will see it in our lifetime....

"In the moderate growth scenario, the Houston metro area will add 4.1 million residents between 2010 and 2050."
This is the reason for the expansion of I-45 and other roads, and adding  new roads such as SH-99, the Grand Parkway . Do you believe that extra lanes being added to I-45 will be enough. The last time I went thru Dallas, I though that it was more of a mess then Houston, as far as roads. Growth has problems that are hard to stay in front of.
