Galveston College will have an open house from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at its Charlie Thomas Family Applied Technology Center, 7626 Broadway.

Faculty from programs of welding, electrical and electronics technology, medical administration, medical coding, cosmetology, HVAC, culinary arts, law enforcement/criminal justice, and pipe fitting will be on hand to give tours and help with applications, registration and financial aid.

HOUSTON

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Friday Morning Continuing Education program will celebrate the beginning of its second year with a special wine-and-cheese reception to be followed by attending the Bayou Theater’s season premiere performance, “Bach and Piazzolla,” performed by Mercury: The Orchestra Redefined from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in the Bayou Building, 2700 Bay Area Blvd.

The reception, which will be held in the Bayou Theater, will highlight the fall series of the Friday Morning Continuing Education classes, which begins Sept. 29.
