LA MARQUE — Private pesticide applicator training will be Aug. 12 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service — Galveston County Office.

This program is intended for individuals seeking a pesticide license in order to apply restricted-use or state-limited use pesticides or regulated herbicides during the production of agricultural commodities.

A private pesticide applicator is someone who uses or supervises the use of these pesticides to produce an agricultural commodity on personally owned property; rented property; property owned by his or her employer; property under his or her general control; or the property of another person if applied without compensation, other than the trading of personal services between producers of agricultural commodities.

Individuals who wish to obtain a private applicator license must attend a private applicator training program offered by the Extension Service, pass the Texas Department of Agriculture private applicator exam offered at 22 locations across the state, and purchase a license.

A private applicator license expires on the fifth anniversary of the date on which it was issued or renewed.
