Three cheers for the new baby

Welcome to the world to little Edward Owen Hannigan. Leading the cheers are grandparents Mary and the late Dr. Edward Hannigan and Anna and Nicolas Georgiadis from Montreal.

Mom and dad are Brendan and Christina Hannigan — Mary and Eddie’s youngest. Gotta remember old high school friend, Eddie’s brother Raymond who’s now in College Station, a snazzienda in the Miramont subdivision.

AIDS Coalition brunch set for June 8

The AIDS Coalition of Coastal Texas, Inc.’s Fundraising Committee promises to make this year’s Champagne Brunch the biggest and best ever.

This year’s event, Chillin’ in the Tropics, will be from noon to 3 p.m. June 8 and guarantees to be the Baby Apple’s social event to kick off the summer season.

After this cold, blustery winter, the ballroom at the Galveston Island Convention Center will be transformed into a magnificent Galveston-style SAND-GRI-LA.

Committee members Christy Benson, Carrie Derkowski, Sandy McReynolds, James Stork and Nathan Sweeten met with Co-Chairs Pam Froeschner and Robert Evans and ACCT’s El Jefe, Mark White, to finalize plans for the event at Fish Tale’s.

The Tale’s very own Brett Otteman served up scrumptious appetizers and refreshing drinks just before all attended the Cajun Derby, aka crawfish races. Christy’s mud bug took off like a flash and keeled over just before crossing the finish line.

Raffle items for this year’s brunch will include two unrestricted Southwest Airline tickets and a Galveston-sized beach cooler filled with adult, liquid libations sure to please and refresh everyone.

Artist donations will include one of a kind pieces by Bill Milligan, Rich Spethman, Patrick Collins and first time donations of stained glass by Ted Waterman and the island’s own Kitchen Chick, Alicia Cahill, who is donating a cooking class.

Sponsorships are still available and donations are still being accepted.

For information, to purchase tickets or make a donation, call 409-763-2437 or visit supportaccct.org.
