The Galveston Island Humane Society pets of the week are Lynne and Ricky.

Lynne is a 1-year-old short haired black and tan tabby female cat with burnt orange eyes and extra long whiskers. She came to us as a stray several months ago and has been patiently waiting for her new family. She hangs out in our community cat room with lots of other cats, so we know she does well with other felines. Lynne loves a good nap and we find her curled up asleep in the strangest places.

Ricky is a 3-year-old blue and black merle chihuahua/catahoula mix with long, lanky legs, honey eyes and a big smile. He was on vacation in Galveston with his family when he got lost. They had to go back home before they found him and were unable to come back for him once they knew he was at the shelter. He is good with children, loves to cuddle and loves to play outside. He has fond memories of running around outdoors chasing birds. He seems to do well around other nice dogs.

The date for the Galveston Island Humane Society’s annual Paws Gala is drawing near. Be sure to join us for “20,000 Paws Under the Sea!” You can purchase tickets and get a sneak peek at auction items at
