The 2014 Treasure Ball honored Robert L. Moody Sr. and the Moody Foundation.

Led by Bobby and Ann McLeod Moody, they fielded a full deck of face cards. ’79 King Vic Matthews III with Cindi and offspring Kit and Will, Russell Moody; ’80 King Ross Rankin Moody with Elle, Jack and their mother Shannon Moody; Allan Watkins Matthews with Lori, her parents Donna and Joe Stall, Tiffany Nicole Bastow; 2008 Queen Kimberly McLeod Matthews and 2014 Princess Marissa Ann Matthews; ‘83 Queen Dorothea “Dotsy” Matthews Balentine with her daughter, 2012 Queen Lauren Anne Balentine, Lauren’s father, Jay W. Balentine; and ’87 Queen Frances Anne Moody-Dahlberg with Kevin Lee Dahlberg and kiddos Alexis and Ashton.

One of the Baby Apple’s favorite couples, Vandy and Sue Anderson, were Captains of the 58th, count ’em 58th Treasure Ball.

Vandy, usually the MC at affairs such as this, got to observe the presentation from a special seat next to the lovely Sue.

The crowd was a who’s who of Sunny Sandbar Catholic (and Friends of the Catholic education) crowd.

King Joseph Anthony Termini III and Queen of the Royal In the King’s retinue there were Jill Russo Termini and D.J. Termini, sister Taylor Termini, grandparents Darnell and Joe Russo Sr and Billie Termini.

Also there were Aunts Sheila Kern and Jo Dubose, family friends Rosemarie Porretto, Joan Barker Tramonte, Kathy and Mike Tramonte, Allison and Patrick Schoenvogel, Betsy Barker Horner, Mary Frances and Vince Soler, Ida Jo Tabaracci Morse and Eugene, Georgia Perrette and Pat Butler.

The Queen, Mary-Alex of the House of Apffel, counted among her admirers parents Pam and Darrell Apffel, bros Kaleb and Blake with Tara and new baby Sutton, Grandparents Ervin and Chris Apffel and Benny and Peggy Holland, Uncles Trey and Karen Apffel, Ronnie and Dana Hansen, and Patty Whittington along with cuzzins Kate Apffel and Trey Boyd, Ross Apffel and Jennifer Hyde, Marlee Whittington, and Amy and Joe Russo Jr. (uncle and aunt to both King and Queen). Cuzzins of both Royals were Matthew, Spencer, and Jaxson Russo.

GAC collaborates with island’s teacher of year

India Coleman, the Galveston Art Center’s intern and a student at The Art Institute of Houston is collaborating with Jessica Antonelli, Galveston’s 2013 Teacher of the Year, on two community outreach projects.

They are working with 4th grade students at Early Childhood University to create an ArtWalk photography exhibit and decorate a Mardi Gras float.

The projects are inspired by an upcoming photography exhibit opening at the Arts Center on Saturday.
