Theatergoers are invited to attend the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, “Next to Normal,” which is currently running at Island East-End Theatre Co., 2317 Mechanic St., in Galveston.

The musical can be seen at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays through April 8, or at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The theater will offer a “Talk-Back” with University of Texas Medical Branch psychiatrists, Drs. Kourtne Roberts and Derek Neal, and the cast after the play on Thursday (Roberts) and Friday (Neal).

“I chose to do this show because I love the music and because the message is one which we all need to be more aware,” said Kim Mytelka, director. “Mental illness affects multitudes of families, but is kept a deep dark secret. ‘Next to Normal’ aims to bring this darkness to light.”

Roberts and Neal will host a discussion and question and answer session about mental health, the prevalence, the impact on the family and any other topic the audience wishes to discuss.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased online at www.islandetc.org.
