- In 1914, A.S. Quinn was found guilty of manslaughter and punishment was set at three years’ imprisonment.
- In 1989, Mayor Joe Lamb spoke to a crowd at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Walter Hall Park pavilion in League City. Built in 1929, the former pavilion was destroyed by a fire in 1987.
- In 1989, players in the annual Galveston Old-Timers Game came to the aid of umpire Junie Schuler after he collapsed, apparently because of the hot weather, during a game in Galveston. He did not sustain any injuries and was treated by paramedics.
