  • In 1914, there was a large increase in the number of building permits during the month of March.
  • In 1964, a grave site monument for Norris Wright Cuny was in the planning stages to be erected in June.
  • In 1989, Galveston resident Steve Fabian returned from Tibet where he survived three days of machine gun fire. Demonstrations by Tibetan monks prompted the Chinese to expel more than 100 foreigners, including Fabian, from the country and a state of martial law was declared.
