  • In 1914, the Galveston Central Relief Committee requested an appeal of $6,600 for flood sufferers.
  • In 1964, Jaycee Week was underway with activities planned by Galveston and Texas City groups.
  • In 1989, the Galveston School board voted to provide the district’s best teachers with the maximum bonus allowed by state law. Teachers on Level 2 of the career ladder received stipends of $2,000, while those on Level 3 received $4,000.
