At the start of 2014, the Galveston County Health District’s Coastal Health and Wellness clinics in Texas City and Galveston will have new hours to better serve the community.

Coastal Health and Wellness clinics will offer evening hours at each location one day a week instead of two in order to accommodate more patients during normal business hours which have experienced an increased demand.

Starting Thursday, the clinics hours will be:

• Texas City: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for scheduled appointments; 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays for walk-ins only; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays for walk-ins only.

The clinic will be open most Saturdays, except for those that fall on holiday weekends. The Texas City clinic is at 9850-C Emmett F. Lowry Expressway in Texas City.

• Galveston: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for scheduled appointments; 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays for walk-ins only.

The Galveston clinic is in the Island Community Center, 4700 Broadway.

Any Galveston County resident can be seen in the clinics, which are federally qualified health centers.

If clinic services rendered to a patient are not covered by insurance or a public program, they can undergo a financial screening to determine what amount they are able to pay.

The clinics accept many private insurance plans.

Call 409-938-2234 for appointments.
