Celebrating fashion and the inspirational stories of patients, Bay Area Regional Medical Center will have its fall fashion show at 6 p.m. Thursday on the Kemah Boardwalk Plaza, 215 Kipp Ave.

The fashion show will showcase stories of triumph and success from the gastric sleeve, gastric bypass and the new non-surgical gastric balloon procedure. Dr. Rizwan Chaudhry was the first bariatric surgeon to complete the non-surgical gastric balloon procedure in the Houston Bay Area.

The fashion show is free and healthy hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served.

People such as Maurice Jackson, who couldn’t walk 18 holes on a golf course with his daughter who enjoys the sport, will be in the fashion show. Since his surgery he has lost 100 pounds, is down eight pant sizes and no longer has to sleep with a sleep apnea machine. He now walks the whole 18 holes with his daughter.

Bay Area Regional’s Metabolic and Weight-loss Institute is dedicated to helping people reach their weight-loss goals and increase quality of life. Research has shown that weight-loss surgery is the most successful treatment for obesity and its related diseases.

“This will be an exciting and unique fashion show to celebrate fashion and the transformation and life change in patients,” said Tim Schmidt, CEO of Bay Area Regional Medical Center. “When each person walks down the runway, we will hear about how weight-loss surgery has dramatically changed their life.”

After the show, surgeons on the medical staff, the bariatric coordinator and licensed dietitian will be available to answer questions about the weight-loss services provided at Bay Area Regional.
