The Gulf Coast Center provides services to United States military veterans in Galveston and Brazoria counties who are dealing with emotions and issues associated with their conflict experience.

Gulf Coast Center has formed a Veteran’s Task Force comprised of community partners including Galveston and Brazoria Veterans Service Officers, Texas Veterans Commission, Veteran’s Administration OIF/OEF Liaison, VFW and American Legion representatives, Veteran/Student organizations from surrounding colleges, college counselors, and community organizations that work with homeless veterans.

The task force meets monthly to coordinate outreach efforts.

In addition, the Gulf Coast Center trains veteran volunteers in a group called Bringing Everyone in the Zone, which is for all veterans who are interested in offering peer-to-peer support and Operation Resilient Families that is for veterans and family members associated with OIF/OEF conflicts.

Licensed mental health counselors provide therapy to veterans who may need it. Any veteran or family member of a veteran interested in participating in training or attending support workshops are asked to call Ramona Benton, 409-935-6083.

The Vet Van, an ongoing program provided by the Gulf Coast Center, will transport any veteran to the VA Hospital in Houston, as well as to any other location in either county. Call 800-266-2320 to make arrangements for transportation.
