Well Hitchcock might not be considered ”Sin City” but it will be the backdrop for the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo 22nd annual Las Vegas Night fundraiser at 7 p.m. today in the Ed Pickett Memorial Hall on the fairgrounds on state Highway 6 in Hitchcock.
The annual fundraiser is a precursor to the annual rodeo which will be April 13-21.
Admission is free. Attendees will be able to purchase $10000 worth of chips for $10.

Pianist Cellist Set To Perform
The Galveston Island Arts Academy will present cellist Anthony Kitai and pianist Shannon Hesse in concert at 7:30 p.m. today at the Moody Mansion 2618 Broadway in Galveston.
Hesse is an affiliate artist at Houston Baptist University where she is the acting head of keyboard studies.
Kitai has appeared with the Galveston Jonesboro Fort Smith and Pine Bluff symphonies and the Doctors Orchestra of Houston.

Love Is In The Air — Symphony Style
In celebration of its 36th season the Clear Lake Symphony will present an evening of beautiful Romantic era music at 7:30 p.m. today at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 18220 Upper Bay Road in Nassau Bay.

Souper Bowl Of Caring Free Concert
The annual Souper Bowl of Caring food drive which will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Kroger 200 Gulf Freeway in League City will feature a free concert by Handsome Ransom and the Brandon Matthew Band at 1 p.m.
During the performances concertgoers can donate cash or food to the campaign.

Bill Balleza Guest Speaker At Pelican Ball
If you watch KPRC Channel 2 or have been around at least 40-plus years then you’ve heard of news anchor Bill Balleza.
Balleza will be the guest speaker at the third annual Pelican Ball which will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Lakewood Yacht Club 2425 NASA Parkway in Seabrook.
The event is sponsored by the Seabrook Association and proceeds will go toward a Veterans Memorial in the area.
Tickets are $60 per person.
There will be a buffet dinner cash bar awards for volunteer citizen and business of the year a silent auction and a special appearance by Parkie Pelican and the Parketts.
The Pee Wee Bowen Band will perform.

The Clydesdales Are Coming
Del Papa Distributing Co. will sponsor the world-famous eight-horse Budweiser Clydesdale hitch at the following times and places just in time for Mardi Gras:
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday in The Strand Historic District in Galveston;
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday they will parade through various streets in Kemah and at the Kemah Boardwalk;
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 10 they will lead the George P. Mitchell Parade on The Strand;
5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 11 they will lead the Gambrinus Parade on the seawall; and
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 12 they will lead the Sunshine Kids Parade on The Strand.
The public is invited to view and photograph the Clydesdales at all events.
