PORT BOLIVAR — Autopsies on the bodies of two Houston women found outside a Port Bolivar convenience store determined that one died of a gunshot wound, a spokesman for the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Britney Cosby, 24, died of blunt force trauma, and Crystal Jackson, 24, was shot to death, Maj. Darrell Isaacks said.

Both women were killed sometime between 9 p.m. Thursday and about 7:45 a.m. Friday, when a beer deliveryman found their bodies near a metal garbage container outside a store in Port Bolivar, a little more than a mile from the Galveston-Bolivar ferry, Isaacks said.

Authorities are waiting for additional results from the autopsies, he said.

Detectives investigating the double homicide suspect the women were killed elsewhere and their bodies were driven to Port Bolivar and dropped off.

Investigators are interviewing possible witnesses and family members of Cosby and Jackson while pursuing other leads, Isaacks said. Detectives are reviewing security camera footage recorded near the store.

The sheriff’s office is trying to determine a motive in the killings, Isaacks said. Detectives said Cosby and Jackson were in a relationship, but it’s unclear if their murder would be considered a hate crime.

Authorities on Sunday released a sketch of a “person of interest” in the investigation, a man seen with the two women.

The police sketch describes him as a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, 5 foot, 11 inches to 6 feet tall with an average build. He has a slight mustache and soul patch-styled beard, according to the sketch.

The sheriff’s office has also asked for help finding Cosby’s vehicle, a silver 2006 Kia Sorento with gray trim. The vehicle has paper tags, Isaacks said. It has been reported as stolen.
