LEAGUE CITY — Police were searching for a suspected burglar Thursday in northeast League City, authorities said.

A homeowner in the 2700 block of Lawrence Road said he returned home shortly after 2:30 p.m. to find that a man had broken into his house, League City police Officer Reagan Pena said. The homeowner tried to detain the man, but he fled on foot.

Officers were combing the area for the man, who is described as white, in his mid-20s, with sandy blonde hair. He was wearing a black shirt and black shorts.

Canine units were brought in to assist with the search, Pena said.
