SAN LEON — An overnight shooting in San Leon left a man dead and his wife charged with murder, authorities said.

Genevieve Ann Harvey, 46, remained jailed this morning on a $100,000 bond in connection with the fatal shooting of her husband, Lindsey Lewis Tarver, Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said in a statement.

Deputies responded to an 11:55 p.m. Wednesday call from Harvey from a residence in the 200 block of 11th Street in San Leon. Authorities claim Harvey told a dispatcher that she took a .357-caliber revolver from Tarver and shot him.

Tarver suffered a gunshot wound to his face and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies obtained a warrant to search the home and found the gun in a dresser drawer inside its carrying bag, Trochesset said.

Authorities claim Harvey was too intoxicated at the time of the initial investigation to interview, but she claimed Tarver “beats and rapes her all the time,” Trochesset said.

A search of sheriff’s office records revealed several calls to the couple’s home, some for assault or disturbances. Deputies knew the couple well, Trochesset said.

When deputies attempted to contact Harvey about past calls, she wouldn’t answer the door at times, but when she did, there were no signs of a disturbance, Trochesset said.
