The island is soon to be home to one of the most popular cupcake franchises in the Houston area.

Tina Davis confirmed today she plans to open The Cupcake Cowgirls franchise, 21st and Church St. downtown.

Davis, who recently moved to Bayou Vista with her husband, is aiming for an early July opening.

I thought it was nice that Davis made a point to shop with local merchants for most of the store decorations.

Rebecca Clanton and baking partner Nicole Costa were crowned the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” champions in 2012.

Not long after that sweet victory, Clanton, opened The Cupcake Cowgirls in Spring and began franchising. A shop in The Woodlands soon followed.

Some of the many popular cupcakes flavors are Maple Bacon, Carrot Cake and the Grandma Love, which is made of vanilla cake with a chocolate fudge center and topped with more chocolate fudging icing.

So, are you a Cupcake Wars fan? Do you plan to try The Cupcake Cowgirls? If you don't bake them, where do you buy cupcakes?

Thank you Laura! We are excited to be part of the Galveston family! My Grandpa & Grandma Palmer were from this area and deeply involved in tugs and shipping forever! Love the history of this city and hope to make a little of our own!
