There is a new face on the block here at The Galveston County Daily News.
Steve Paterson, a media professional with deep Texas roots, joined the newspaper as the advertising director Tuesday.
Simply put, Steve will add another shot of fresh ideas and attitudes to our newspaper. Well, maybe we should prepare ourselves for a fire hose.
This, we believe, is good for Galveston County.
As Texas’ oldest newspaper, we at The Galveston Daily News would like to also be known at the Texas’ best newspaper. But we also understand this is not just a string of words coming from the marketing department — this type of achievement must be earned one day at a time. And the good news is we are willing to put in the hard work to make it happen.
Earning this title will not come from an outside firm or organization, but from you — the readers and community. We believe in Galveston County right down to the toes in our boots and are willing to prove it.
Here is where Steve Paterson fits in. With a career reaching from coast to coast and newspaper and media companies both large and small, we believe he is a tremendous fit for our evolving community. Galveston County is on the cusp of yet another historical transformation, and we are preparing to serve our community like no one else.
Steve is coming to us from California where he served as group publisher for a network of newspapers serving the Bay Area including the Silicon Valley. Simply put, we are excited to welcome Steve and his wife to our community.
He’s a long time Rotarian and father to two adult daughters who already live in Texas. We encourage you to reach out directly to Steve should there be anything he can answer or assist you regarding the newspaper. This is a good guy and one we are proud to have on our team working for Galveston County.
Steve can easily be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
