LEAGUE CITY — The Helen Hall Library was evacuated late Monday afternoon after someone called in with a “threat,” police said.

Police and bomb-sniffing dogs checked the area and did not find any devices or anything that would pose a threat, police said. The call came about 4:50 p.m., and the all-clear was given about 6:30 p.m.

Someone used a phone service that is primarily used to assist deaf and mute to call in the threat to the library, League City spokeswoman Reagan Pena said.

Police took a man into custody for questioning Monday night, Pena said.

Tuesday morning Pena said that Brandon James Althoff, 32, of Dickinson was later charged with a misdemeanor terroristic threat and posted a $2,500 bail.
