LEAGUE CITY — A League City man has been charged in the death of his wife.
Felipe Alberto Fernandez, 48, is charged with murder in the death of Katrina Gonzalez, 33. He is being held on a $150,000 bond, said Officer Reagan Pena, a spokesperson for the League City Police Department.
According to a statement from police, an off-duty police officer called police after a Hispanic man approached his home, saying something was wrong with his wife. The officer tried to get more information from the man, who was unresponsive.
Officers on the scene found the wife’s body inside the house in the 800 block of Driftwood. The husband was detained for questioning, and was charged late Saturday night.
A statement from League City police said while the cause of death had yet to be determined by the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office, police found signs of blunt force trauma on Gonzalez’s body.
According to neighbors, the couple had a daughter in the fifth grade and a younger daughter. Police did not say whether the children were in the house when the woman died or when police arrived.
The police department’s crime victim’s advocate is assisting the family, the police said.
