Marine vessel traffic still is limited to daylight hours, and ships and barges going through the channels are monitored for oil in area channels, the U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday.

In some areas, vessels are required to slow down as much as possible while still being able to respond to changes in direction.

A vessel decontamination plan also is in place for vessels that may have been impacted by the oil. There are stations at Pelican Cut, Galveston and Bolivar, the Coast Guard said.

Those affected can call 832-244-1870 to schedule a vessel decontamination.
