Several churches and church organizations have activities

honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s memory.  They are: 

‘I Have a Dream’ speech

Quienton Cook will recite the “I Have a Dream” speech as Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church celebrates the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at its 11 a.m. Sunday service at 1220 state Highway 3 in La Marque.

Damien Cleveland will sing, and Devron Cleveland will deliver a prayer.

King-Fest MLK Church Service

WHEN: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday

WHERE: Avenue L Missionary Baptist Church, 2617 Ave. L, in Galveston

INFO: Religious service involving local churches and features the citywide MLK Celestial Choir and the Galveston Heritage Choir. MLK Service and Humanitarian awards also will be presented to worthy citizens that labor in the spirit of Dr. King in the community.

St. Vincent’s House Unity Prayer Vigil

WHEN: Noon Monday

WHERE: St. Vincent’s House, 2827 Postoffice St., in Galveston

Inspirational Tribute to Dr. King

WHEN: 6:30 p.m. Monday

WHERE: Central Middle School, 3210 Sealy Ave., in Galveston

INFO: The event will feature an evening of diverse songs, dance, and dramatic interpretation by local school and church groups, and various other talented individuals in the community.

COST: Admission is free
