The eighth annual Yaga’s Chili Quest & Beer Fest will kick off with a Night Party from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. today at Yaga’s Café, 2314 Strand St., in Galveston.

Then from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Saengerfest Park, 2300 Strand St., the festival will feature a cook-off, beer fest, live music, vendors, 5K fun run, Strand merchant walk-about and various contests.

Admission is free, but tickets are needed for the public chili sampling and beer fest, which will begin at noon for VIP guests and 1 p.m. for general admission, at the Top Gallant Room, second floor, 2301 Strand St.

‘Mary Poppins’ debuts at Clear Falls High School

Make sure you get your tickets to the high school production of “Mary Poppins” set for 7 p.m. Thursday through Jan. 28 and Feb. 2 through Feb. 4 in the Clear Falls High School Performing Arts Center, 4380 Village Way, in League City.

The musical will feature more than 75 students from the theater, choir, band and orchestra groups of the school.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students.

Friendswood High School presents 49th annual musical

Friendswood High School, in conjunction with Music Theatre International, will present “Les Miserables” as a part of the school’s 49th annual musical.

Directed by Kathy Powdrell, the musical can be seen nightly at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 through Jan. 28, Feb. 3-4, and at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 29 and Feb. 5 in the Myrlene Kennedy Auditorium at the school, 702 Greenbriar, in Friendswood.

The musical, which features songs such as “I Dreamed A Dream,” “Bring Him Home,” “One Day More” and “On My Own,” celebrated its 30th anniversary on Oct. 8, 2015.

Tickets are $10 per person and will be available at the door one hour before each performance.

‘Pippin’’ is on its way to The Grand

The highly-acclaimed Broadway musical, “Pippin’,” will be making its way to Galveston County with show performances set for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice St., in Galveston.

‘Maya — A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

If you want to see an “out-of-sight” production, make sure you add this event to your calendar and get your tickets quick!

Harmony Lodge No. 6 and Silambam Dance Co., based in Houston, will present the musical show “Maya — A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the historic Scottish Rite Cathedral, 2128 Church St., in Galveston.
