GALVESTON — Two artists have created a faux “boom town” outside the Galveston Artist Residency, 2521 Ship’s Mechanic Row, along with a faux art fair. The exhibit opens during Saturday’s ArtWalk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

New York City artists William Powhida and Jade Townsend have created a satirical look at what happens when a city becomes a hot spot for art in their installation “New New Berlin! & NevADA ART FAIR.” Their “boom town” will feature actors portraying local residents of “New New Berlin” during the opening and a faux art fair where people can take aim at the art with paintball guns. They also are encouraging people to wear western wear to the opening.
