Everyone likes a love story, right?

Well, if you do, you’re in luck as an updated version of the timeless, classic love story “West Side Story” makes its debut for two performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday at The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice St., in Galveston.

We all know the story of Tony and Maria who fall in love, but their families are members of two rival gangs — the Sharks and the Jets. The production also will feature the songs “Something’s Coming Tonight,” “America” and “Somewhere.”

Crawfish, crawfish, and more crawfish

Crawfish lovers will have plenty of reasons to go out and get their hands on the delectable mudbugs at a variety of events this weekend.

The Kemah Crawfish Festival will be from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. today, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Kemah Historic Lighthouse District, Sixth Street and Bradford Avenue, in Kemah.

The event will feature affordable crawfish and live music. Admission is $8; and children 12 and younger and military in uniform get in free. Visit http://gulfcoastfestivals.com/kemah_crawfish_festival.

Also in Kemah, the 12th annual Kemah Cops & Crawfish family event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kemah Community Center, 800 Harris Ave.

The fundraiser for the Kemah Police Department will have $10 crawfish, $5 barbecue sandwiches, music, silent auction, bake sale, $1 hot dogs and free face painting for the kids. Tickets can be bought at Cozy Corner and Kemah Coach. For information, email kemahcpaaa@gmail.com.

And don’t forget about the Rotary Club of Galveston’s fourth annual Crawfish Boil, which will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in the big white tent near the Discovery Pyramid at Moody Gardens, 1 Hope Blvd., in Galveston.

Crawfish will be prepared by The Lighthouse Charity Cooking Team and other concessions will be sold too. The event also will have live zydeco entertainment.

Corvette show is this weekend

If you’re into cars, the Space City Corvette Club is inviting you to their 10th annual Corvette Show from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 5001 NASA Road 1 in Seabrook.

If you want to participate, registration is $40 per car and $20 per passenger (add $5 more on the day of the show).

Admission is $20 per person, and $10 for ages 10 and younger. Concessions also will be sold.

Lunar Rendezvous Festival

The 2014 Lunar Rendezvous Festival will have its free kickoff event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in Atrium 1 on the campus of the University of Houston at Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., in Houston.

This year’s festival includes a tennis and golf tournament, spa night, family fun night, dining event, 5K run, sunset celebration service, fashion show and coronation ball.

Two music events set for Thursday

Kelly McGuire’s songwriter series “Up Close & Personal,” with special guest Chuck Pyle, will be presented at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Butler Longhorn Museum, 1220 Coryell, in League City.

Also on Thursday, the Legends of Clear Lake, featuring Pee Wee Bowen, Mickey Hobbs, Phil Johnson, David Schwope, Abel Salazar, Claudio Sereni, Michael Stevens, Cindy Thomas and Janet Z, will begin at 6 p.m. at Claudio’s Restaurant & Piano Bar, 3202 Marina Bay Drive, in League City.
