What Christmas holiday season would be complete without presentations of “The Nutcracker?” Well, you’re in luck if you haven’t gotten a chance to see the holiday classic.

The Kennedy Dance Theatre will present its production of “The Nutcracker” at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bayou Theater on the campus of the University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., in Houston.

Directed by internationally acclaimed choreographer Milena Leben, the presentations also will host Clara’s Closet, which is a huge vendor event featuring all sorts of holiday goodies for those on your Christmas lists.

Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door (group rates also are available).

‘Santa’s Night Out’

The Galveston Diaper Bank will have its ninth annual “Santa’s Night Out” fundraising event at 7 p.m. Saturday at Murphy’s Irish Pub, 213 22nd St., in Galveston.

Admission is free and attendees are encouraged to wear Santa or holiday-inspired attire. Guests also are encouraged to take opened or unopened packages of diapers and wipes for the diaper bank to help those less fortunate.

Soup and salad fundraiser

This time of year brings out the best in people and groups who want to give back to those in our area that need a helping hand in a variety of ways.

With that being said, the good folks over at EATcetera is hoping that you take the time out to participate in its fifth annual Soup and Salad Fundraiser from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 408 25th St. in Galveston.

Tickets are only $10 per person and all proceeds will go toward The Children’s Center. There also will be live music during the event as well.

Country music superstars take over The Grand

This weekend, two country music legends will be in our neck of the woods.

Jerry Jeff Walker, a “grand” favorite, will be performing at 8 p.m. Saturday, and Loretta Lynn will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Monday at The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice St., in Galveston.

Walker returns to The Grand to bring his unique singing style just in time for the holiday season; and Lynn, who is one of the most awarded musicians of all time will be making her debut at The Grand (sorry y’all, but her 4 p.m. Sunday concert is sold out).
