SEABROOK — For 19 years, thousands of auto and boat fans have chased the fun that is Keels and Wheels. As the 19th annual Concours d’Elegance show returns to Lakewood Yacht Club, a well-known car chaser will be on hand.
Wayne Carini, host of the Velocity Channel’s “Chasing Classic Cars,” is this year’s grand marshal. Carini, who drives across the country in search of classic cars to restore and sell, will not only be a guest of the show, he also will film portions of his visit for his hit show.
Bob Fuller, the co-founder of the Keels and Wheels show, said about 170 cars and 60 classic boats would be featured on the grounds and at the docks of Lakewood Yacht Club.
And after a few-year hiatus, the classic car auction returns to the show this year.
Motostalgia auction house will have 90 years of automotive history up for auction to kick off the show today. Even if you don’t plan to bid on one of the classic cars that will be up for auction, people can purchase an auction viewing ticket.
While the highlight of the show is classic cars and boats, Lincoln will use the show to give away a 2104 MKZ. Fuller also said Lincoln Motorcars would unveil the new MKZs at the show.
Attendees can also participate in other activities such as the Kids Build a Boat event and voting in the People’s Choice award.
More than 15,000 people attend the car show each year, Fuller said. Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Boys and Girls Harbour.
Fuller said the event has raised more than $1.3 million for charity since it started 19 years ago.
