Kemah Fireworks event

The Kemah Boardwalk will present its annual New Year’s Eve Family Celebration at 10 p.m. Sunday in Kemah. Admission is free.

Well, we’ve come to the end of the road, as Boys II Men would say ...

Here’s a few New Year’s Eve events to help you celebrate all things 2017 while bringing in 2018:

On the mainland, the Kemah Boardwalk will have its annual New Year’s Eve Celebration featuring a spectacular fireworks display over Galveston Bay at 10 p.m. Sunday at 215 Kipp Ave. in Kemah.

The free event, which is for the entire family, also will feature live music in the plaza throughout the evening. For information, visit www.kemahboardwalk.com or call 281-535-8100.

Also on the mainland will be LULAC Council No. 255’s annual New Year’s Eve Dance, which will be from 8 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday at the Nessler Center, 2010 Fifth Ave. N., in Texas City.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

The American Legion Post No. 554 will have a New Year’s Eve party from 7 p.m. to midnight Sunday at 1650 state Highway 3 S. in League City. For information, call 281-332-8733.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5400 will have a New Year’s dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Sunday at 11320 state Highway 6 in Santa Fe. Silver Wings will perform. The cost is $15 per person. For information, call 409-925-2525.

And for those of you on the island the Old Quarter Acoustic Café will have its annual New Year’s Eve Party from 9 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday at 413 20th St. in Galveston.

The café also will have a plethora of live music showcases beginning today through Monday.

TASTE OF THE STRAND TOUR

Here’s hoping the weather holds up for the Taste of The Strand Tour set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at a variety of established eateries in downtown Galveston.

Boasting itself as the “largest guided food tour in Texas” guests will get to sample appetizers, main dishes, desserts and more.

IT’S A ‘GRAND’

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Who doesn’t love a birthday party? Especially with cake!

Well, you’re in luck if you attend The Grand 1894 Opera House’s 123rd birthday celebration from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at 2020 Postoffice St. in Galveston.

In addition to complimentary tours of the theater, visitors to The Grand may enjoy birthday cake and refreshments served throughout the afternoon. The event is free and open to the public.

Tickets to upcoming shows such as The Blues Brothers, Tango Fire, Parsons Dance and more also will be available for purchase at the box office.
