TEXAS CITY —Kozmic Pearl, a Janis Joplin tribute led by Myrna Sanders, will perform today as part of the Texas City Summer Concert Series.

After receiving requests from fans since the band decided a year ago to stop performing while Sanders concentrated on her solo career, she decided to bring the band back together for two final shows.

The first concert was a sold-out performance July 25 at Houston’s House of Blues.

The original lineup of Kozmic Pearl began performing in 2005. The group has performed several times in Port Arthur, Joplin’s birthplace, for the city’s annual Janis Joplin birthday celebration.

For the show in Texas City, the opening act will be ZigZag, featuring classic and psychedelic rock from the late 1960s.
