To better prepare candidates for the job application and interview processes, the University of Houston-Clear Lake Office of Career Services will host a series of events with potential employers and community career experts Sept. 15-18.
Career week will kick off with Résumé Rally from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 15 in the university’s Bayou Building Garden Room, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., in Houston.
Attendees can bring in their résumé for an on-the-spot review by local employers. Mock interviews will be conducted from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 16 in the university’s Student Services and Classroom Building, Room 3109, 2700 Bay Area Blvd.
Interested job-seekers must make an appointment with the Office of Career Services for a 30-minute mock interview with an employer.
Career Week will come to a close with the Gulf Coast Job Fair 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18, on campus at UHCL. Those seeking a job should wear professional attire and are encouraged to bring at least 10 copies of their resume.

UHCL students attend national conference
A few students from University of Houston-Clear Lake’s School of Science and Computer Engineering have been busy this summer.
Computer engineering students Angusundaresh Krishnakumar, Gowtham Manoharan Gandhimathi, Anshuka Charkal and Tarun Kumar Sharma were selected to attend the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment 2014 conference in Atlanta.
In addition to the presentation of their own projects, the students had opportunities to attend lectures and receive special training.
UHCL center offers GMAT Review course
Brush up on the necessary skills to ace the Graduate Management Admissions Test at this GMAT Review, provided by University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Center for Advanced Management Programs. This four-session course will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27 at the university, 2700 Bay Area Blvd.
Day one of the course will walk students through the exam, go over test-taking strategies, reading comprehension and sentence correction for the grammatical errors section of the exam.
On day two, students will dive into critical reasoning and the analytical writing assessment and days three and four will cover problem solving and integrated reasoning.
The fee for the course is $499, with a $50 discount given to those who register before Aug. 30.
