Wine enthusiasts will Raise a Glass to CIS

HOUSTON — Benefiting the students and families of Communities In Schools-Bay Area, wine enthusiasts are invited to Raise a Glass to CIS at 3:30 p.m. April 28 at the Bay Oaks Country Club, 14545 Bay Oaks Blvd.

The event is part of the fifth annual Keep Kids in School Golf Tournament taking place the same day. 

Proceeds from the tournament and wine event will fund dropout prevention programs for at-risk students in Clear Creek and Dickinson independent school districts.

This year’s event will honor Jane and Jim Sweeney of Minuteman Press and Big Daddy Marketing. Jim has been involved with CIS-Bay Area for more than 14 years and has served as president of the board of directors for three terms. Jane currently serves as president of the board.

Grand Cru Title Sponsors are Pam and Greg Ploss. Other sponsors are Elizabeth and Bob Scott, SERVPRO of Clear Lake, Susan Bailey with UTR Texas Realtors, Ann Hammond, Dr. Sara Freedman, Kim Barker and Carol Latimer. Chairman of the event’s committee is Lisa Holbrook.

The event will start with a Champagne reception followed by a wine tasting and presentation with sommelier Chris Colin of Redneck Country Club. Emcee will be Crystal Gornto, CEO and founder of HeartStories motivational speakers. Live music will be provided by Jeff Lopez.
