Learn a new language through University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Foreign Language and English Enhancement Program. Students of all ages and skill levels are welcome to learn Spanish, German, French, Mandarin Chinese, Russian or Japanese.
The first fall session will be Aug. 25-Oct. 10 at a variety of times and locations. Each course offers small class sizes with a highly qualified instructor who teaches students the language orally, encouraging a faster learning process than traditional methods of language teaching.
The course fee is $145 for group sessions and $600 per 10 hours of private lessons. All classes are offered on a noncredit basis, but Continuing Education Units are offered upon satisfactory completion of the course.

Fall semester kicks
off Aug. 25
UH-Clear Lake welcomes students back to classes Aug. 25. With the addition of freshman and sophomore students, the university has added new student success programs, additional faculty members and a calendar full of events aimed at welcoming the newest Hawks on campus.
Course registration is open through Aug. 22, with late registration from Aug. 23 to Sept. 2, and can be completed online at www.uhcl.edu/academics and following the “Class Schedule” tab.
UHCL professor named art show juror
Area artists will be submitting their art for the Pearland Arts League’s fourth annual Juried Exhibition, which will be juried by UH-Clear Lake Associate Professor of Visual Arts Matthew Linton this fall. This honor is a representation of Linton’s artistic and professional success.
Artists can submit jpegs of their work to the Pearland Arts League until Aug. 15, and can find entry information on the Pearland Arts League website. The Pearland Arts League Fourth Annual Juried Exhibition will be Sept. 7 to Oct. 5, with the opening reception 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Pearland Parks and Recreation, 4141 Bailey Road, in Pearland.
Employers can register for Gulf Coast Job Fair
Employers interested in recruiting new talent have until Sept. 1 to register for the Gulf Coast Job Fair at the UH-Clear Lake from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18 at UHCL, 2700 Bay Area Blvd.
Employers will have the opportunity to speak with students, alumni and members of the community about potential employment.
