TEXAS CITY — College of the Mainland’s vice president of instruction has stepped down after taking a job at a college in Florida.

Wednesday was Amy Locklear’s last day at College of the Mainland, college President Beth Lewis said.

Locklear has been with the college since 2008 and will be moving on to Daytona State College in Florida to be closer to her family, Lewis said.

Pam Millsap, the dean of general education, will be the interim vice president of instruction while the college looks for a permanent replacement, Lewis said.

It will be difficult to replace Locklear, Lewis said.

“She is one of, hands down, the best natural administrators I have ever worked with,” she said.
