GALVESTON — The Galveston College Foundation is excited to announce the annual Five Fabulous Chefs: Le Beau Printemps 2014!
Proceeds from two evenings of culinary delight, which will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 25 and March 26 at 4015 Ave. Q, support the Universal Access Endowment ensuring local eligible Galveston high school graduates financial assistance to attend Galveston College.
Underwriters for this springtime epicurean evening are Gaido’s, Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Conference Center, Olympia The Grill at Pier 21, The San Luis Resort Spa and Conference Center and Rudy & Paco Restaurant & Bar.
Executive chefs Casey Gaido and Ross Warhol, Urs Schmid, Tikie Kriticos, Hector Moreno, Brian Robertson and Denise and Paco Vargas have designed an evening featuring hors d’oeuvres from each of their superb kitchens plus a five-course dinner of soup, salad, two entrees of seafood and beef, and a spectacular array of innovative desserts.
Molecular gastronomy — the investigation of how physical and chemical interactions transform ingredients while cooking — will be employed to enhance the experience.
The evening’s program will highlight the education and skill necessary to become a professional in a contemporary culinary setting.
Before the event, the executive chefs have generously offered to tutor and train Galveston College Culinary Arts Program students selected by program director and Chef Paul Mendoza in their professional kitchens.
The students, under direction of the executive chefs, will also serve both evenings from the culinary program’s kitchen located in the College’s atrium area.
