TEXAS CITY --  The U.S. Coast Guard was searching Galveston Bay for three people reported missing after they took off on an inflatable raft near the Texas City Dike on Saturday.

Among the missing was a 6-year-old child, officials said.

The trio had been missing for about five hours before family members reported it to Texas City officials at about 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The Houston Ship Channel was closed during the search after a cruise ship crew reported spotting people in the water late that night.

This is a developing story. Details as they become available.
