GALVESTON — Galveston’s Own Farmer’s Market monthly “Kid’s Corner” series will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the grassy lot behind Antique Warehouse, 2508 Postoffice St.

The series will host Gulf Coast Honey Bee Farm as they provide a sneak peek into the secrets of a working beehive. Kids get a chance to speak with beekeepers and learn about the wonders of pollen, drones, brood, honey and much more — they even get to spot the queen bee. These skilled beekeepers bring the observation hive for kids of all ages to explore, and the entire hive is contained in plexiglass to keep the curiosity safe and sting-free.

In addition to bees, earthworms and the ever-popular “House of Science,” this weekend will debut the “Bug In a Bag,” allowing kids to use their imagination and build the insect of their dreams using their hands and creativity to invent their own take-home critter.

Located near The Strand, GOFM hosts arts and crafts, planting activities, story time and bushels of outside fun every second Sunday of the month.

The local Galveston organization SMART Family Literacy works with GOFM and GISD to create Kid’s Corner, generously providing good stories and books to share.
