GALVESTON — A Galveston man is accused of stabbing another man late Tuesday.

At about 10:30 p.m., Galveston Police Officer Gregory Parris, who was off duty at the time, was driving northbound in the 1800 block of 19th Street when he reported seeing one man attack another, police department spokesman Joshua Schirard said.

Parris said as he drove up on the two men, he saw one man stab the other. Parris reported that he got out of his car, identified himself as an officer and pulled out a pistol.

He then called 911 to report the incident.

The unidentified stabbing victim was taken by ambulance to the University of Texas Medical Branch’s John Sealy Hospital. His condition was unknown, Schirard said.

Responding officers arrested Karl Michael Zamora, 28, on an aggravated assault charge. He was in the Galveston County Jail on $80,000 bond.
