Laughter Yoga

Studies conducted in Bangalore, India, and the United States show that laughter lowers blood levels of epinephrine and cortisol, which are stress hormones. But, you don’t have to go to the newest Will Ferrell movie to find the benefits.

Live, love and laugh with Hasyayoga, also called “Laughter Yoga,” which is based on the concept that the body gets the same physiological and psychological benefits from laughter whether it’s spontaneous or voluntary.

The practice, which involves prolonged voluntary laughter, was developed by Dr. Madan Kataria in 1995 and has since come to Galveston via Dennis McFadden, a certified Laughter Yoga instructor who teaches at The Yoga Haven in Galveston.
