Fashionistas came in droves to Saks Fifth Avenue at the Houston Galleria on Jan. 14 for a look at the hot new gowns for this season’s Mardi Gras celebrations and to raise money for Dress for Success Houston.

The event, hosted by the Galveston Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, featured hors d’oeuvres, drinks, music, makeovers and the latest couture appropriate to don at Galveston’s San Luis Salute on Feb. 28 and The Tremont House's 30th annual Mardi Gras Ball on March 1.

Dress for Success Houston President and Co-Founder Nancy Levicki and her daughter Laura Levicki, vice president of the same organization, joined Women of Wardrobe (WOW) President Sara Connell to further the cause of disadvantaged women in the community.

"Our organization reaches out to women who have found themselves having to start over with nothing,” Laura Levicki said. “We believe that providing professional attire to women facing a variety of hardships is a key ingredient to their future success.”

Purchases at these events and donations make it possible to provide clothing, career development, scholarships, mentoring and other personal enhancement tools to support positive change.
