The Galveston Chamber of Commerce dedicated its 168th Annual Meeting to the city’s 175th anniversary celebration Jan. 24 at the Hotel Galvez. In attendance were city, county and federal government officials, chamber members, board of directors, residents, local business owners and many of the island’s councils and organizations. Part of the plan initiated by Galveston Mayor Lewis Rosen is to have a yearlong celebration that will feature themes highlighting the cultural and historical facets of Galveston. The community is encouraged to become involved in the city’s economic future by taking part in these events.
